Joe Torkelson, MAC

Joe is a Co-Portfolio Manager and our Vice President of Investor Relations at Matisse Capital. He joined the firm in 2024 and has served as a co-portfolio manager for the Matisse Funds (our two public mutual funds) since August 2026. He also leads investor relations, managing the firm’s institutional and advisor relationships and helping lead the funds’ marketing and distribution.

Prior to joining Matisse, Joe spent three years at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in Phoenix, AZ, as a Debt & Equity Placement Analyst. There he underwrote more than $4.4 billion in investment opportunities and authored research on Arizona multifamily economic trends. He was later promoted to Multifamily Investment Sales Associate, leading the marketing of several multi-million dollar transactions.

Joe graduated summa cum laude with a Master of Accounting (MAC) from Creighton University’s Heider College of Business, where he was a four-year Division I athlete on the Men’s Golf Team. He also holds a CRE Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst certification from the Corporate Finance Institute and volunteers regularly with the Creighton Community Foundation and the HonorHealth Desert Mission Adopt-A-Family Program.
